Faculty can request salary benchmark data for their specialty, degree, and rank by filling out this form.
Faculty salary equity reviews will be conducted as follows:
- Total faculty compensation (excluding administrative differentials) will be normalized to 1.0 FTE
- The faculty compensation associated with each faculty academic appointment will be reviewed individually (faculty leadership positions will also be reviewed individually)
- I.e., if a faculty member has a paid appointment in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, the compensation associated with each appointment will be normalized and reviewed separately within each specialty/sub-specialty
- The faculty compensation associated with each faculty academic appointment will be reviewed individually (faculty leadership positions will also be reviewed individually)
- This normalized total compensation is compared to the median normalized compensation of the faculty member’s cohort based on:
- Department/specialty or division/sub-specialty
- Degree (e.g., MD, MD/PhD, etc.)
- Rank
- Any disparities within each cohort will be reviewed for salary inequity
- Potential justifications for salary disparities could include, among other things:
- Difference in years in rank
- Differences in clinical productivity
- The Equity Review Committee will review all disparities and will decide if the disparity needs to be adjusted
- The committee will be composed of senior Medical School leaders, department leaders, the Office of General Counsel, and faculty
- If the committee decides that a disparity requires adjustment, the department will execute it within 60 days of the committee’s decision

Faculty performance evaluations and faculty compensation:
Changes to annual faculty salaries are driven in part by the Medical School’s annual faculty review program. Department leaders will use a variety of factors (including faculty performance across the tripartite mission) to set annual changes in faculty salary.
