Emeritus Readiness Reception

**The Emeritus Readiness Reception originally scheduled for May 6th has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. This will be rescheduled for a later date.**

Whether you are near retirement, considering it in the future, or are simply curious about what retirement could look like for you as a faculty member, please join us for a discussion and reception to learn more from Carol Bradford, MD, MS, Executive Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, and our panelists:

  • Brian Zink, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Faculty Development, Professor, Department of Emergency Medicine, will provide an overview of the process for becoming emeritus faculty.
  • Michelle Riba, MD, Clinical Professor and Program Director of the Psychosomatic Medicine Fellowship; Associate Director of The University of Michigan Comprehensive Depression Center; and Director of the PsychOncology Program at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center, will discuss the psychosocial aspects of retirement.
  • Thomas Gelehrter, MD, Professor Emeritus of Human Genetics and Internal Medicine, will share about his experience as an active emeritus faculty.

No matter your age, planning for your retirement is important at every stage of your career. Enjoy refreshments and heavy hors d’oeuvres, network with your colleagues, and envision what your future could look like as emeritus faculty.

The University of Michigan Benefits Office will also be present to answer any questions about your UM Retirement plan and can be available for 1:1 discussions on site.

A team from Fidelity and TIAA will also be present to answer any questions about your U-M retirement plan and can be available for one-on-one discussions on site.
