Improve Your Coaching Skills

This workshop is intended to expose faculty and senior level administrators to foundational concepts and applicable tools for one-on-one developmental coaching. Coaching is defined as a formal one-on-one collaborative relationship between a coach and a staff member or student where there is accountability and support for:

  • Understanding the coachee's developmental needs;
  • Creating a plan to address current challenges and explore possibilities; and
  • Reaching goals and engaging in continuous learning.

The workshop agenda will include an introduction to coaching, the coaching process, coaching skills and competencies, and coaching practice with peer assistance. 


Objectives

  • Describe the differences between mentoring and coaching.
  • Outline the four elements of the Coaching Process and the tools available to assist with each.
  • Define the Coaching Relationship and its key concepts.
