This program is an accelerated 4-day immersive learning experience that draws on the participant’s 360° assessment of leadership competencies and skills.

The nomination forms for upcoming sessions are for all cohorts (please choose Michigan Medicine or U-M (Non-Michigan Medicine). You will choose the cohort during the nomination process. 

The Medical School and Michigan Medicine Human Resources have partnered together to offer the Leadership Academy which focuses on the development of Michigan Medicine and University of Michigan Campus leaders. The mission of the Academy is to accelerate the development of leaders so that they can reach higher levels of success and produce better results for the University of Michigan. The Academy accomplishes this by developing essential competencies and skills, introducing new approaches and global best practices, and inspiring personal commitment to leadership development. The Leadership Academy’s curriculum focuses on 3 major themes; Leading Self, Leading Others and Leading in a Complex Organization. The first two days concentrate on self and teams and the last two days on the organization. The Leadership Academy involves interaction among peer leaders in our organization; leveraging a dynamic mix of concepts, activities, practical tools, self-assessments, case studies, and team learning. 

Participants are currently selected through a nomination process. If you have a leader that reports to you whom you wish to nominate, please complete the nomination form for an upcoming cohort.

For the nominator: The per person cost of 4-days combined is $2100 to cover the costs of the program and requires no additional outlays for incidentals and no lost time associated with traveling to venues in other cities. Please communicate with your nominee regarding how this fee will be covered. That is, if the nominee is expected to cover the cost using discretionary funds or whether the department or another source plan to defray the cost.

New Michigan Medicine Nomination System!

In order to better manage the Leadership Academy program, we are now using the SurveyMonkey Apply system to collect and review nominations, send out all communications, and collect necessary information from accepted nominees. Given that we are now enrolling ~200 participants a year, it is necessary for all nominations to be submitted through the system in order for us to track participation, ensure enrollment, and send communications efficiently.  We appreciate your efforts in adapting to this small change in the nomination process!
